Abstract

|
Ageism, which is stereotyping and prejudice against the elderly, has an influence on healthcare in various ways. As a sequel to the recent article on healthcare ageism, this is another short review with regard to the concepts of ‘ageism’ and sociological theories of ‘aging’ and new gerontological theory of ‘successful aging’. This review has some implications in the healthcare communication and doctor-patient relationship at the micro (i.e. personal) level.
